MY WOODWORKING JOURNEY

High-Quality Professionalism

I entered the U.S. Army on June 01, 2009 after completing my training I was stationed at Fort Knox, KY. In December of 2010 we left for Afghanistan and it was in Afghanistan that my love of carpentry was discovered. My brother and best friend Doug Johnston introduced me to woodworking simply by asking me if I could help him when we weren't running missions.

In the beginning I knew nothing of woodworking but slowly by different products Doug helped me learn new skills. By the end of the year together we built a 8' x 8' octagonal gazebo, completely from the ground up. This was the pinnacle of the years journey into woodworking.

Upon leaving the Army I had several jobs and attended school twice. My heart and mind always wandered back to Afghanistan and the year I spent learning woodworking. In March of 2021 I decided it was time to delve back in, this is when I created Saint Joseph's Workshop. It has been quite the journey as an entrepreneur but I am excited for what the future holds and for the opportunities my clients give me to build custom pieces.
